The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the coordination of services rendered to patients to ensure seamless delivery of care and efficient and effective utilization of Pharmacy services in the acute care setting.  Through multidisciplinary collaboration, and in conjunction with physician partners, coordinates operational planning, systems assessment and analysis, program development, information management and marketing.  Plans, directs, controls and evaluates the activities, functions, and management personnel of their clinical service area to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care specific to the age/development needs of the patient populations served.

• Responsible for achieving a level of shared operational management between physicians and health care services by bringing together the resources necessary to continuously improve the delivery of pharmacy services.
• Identify, develop, and implement new services and programs to support safe and efficient delivery of care in the acute care setting.
• Works with the Regional Director of Pharmacy on capital planning and financial forecasts, monitoring of financial performance, and implementing corrective interventions when necessary.
• Oversees and maintains accountability for compliance with all regulatory standards including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission, Illinois Department of Public Health and Illinois licensing requirements (Board of Pharmacy) as well as organizational quality improvement programs.
• Plans and coordinates personnel and patient care activities to assure safety, quality, customer/patient satisfaction, efficiency and consistency.
• Assures the effective and efficient daily operations and long-term effectiveness of assigned pharmacy sites.
• Assists the Regional Director of Pharmacy with the development and implementation of philosophy and objectives congruent with the regional health ministry's mission and strategic plan.
• Collaborates with the Regional Director of Pharmacy and other Pharmacy leaders to develop and implement annual operational plans and metrics which are aligned to the operational priorities of Trinity Health and Loyola Medicine to improve performance of pharmacy services at all sites and locations.
• Embraces the philosophy and actions supporting the Trinity Health Leadership System.
• Directs the development of policies, procedures and staffing plans essential to the day-to-day operations.
• Conducts annual reviews and revisions to meet current trends and organizational needs.
• Oversees and supports area leaders in hiring, transferring, promoting, terminating, assigning and rewarding employees.
• Participates as needed in discipline and grievances.
• Maintains multi-directional communication network with administration, faculty, house-staff, clinical chairs, managers and employees.
• Participates in local, regional, and/or system committees as needed. 
• Remains current in trends, major advances and business strategies related to healthcare and Pharmacy.
