Description Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a full-time Program Assistant for the WWCC Correction Education program located at the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) in Connell, Washington. This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (WSBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at CRCC in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections. Walla Walla Community College and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all Department of Corrections (DOC) Policies, IT and other Security requirements, follow DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent's directions. General Responsibilities: This position prioritizes and performs program assistant duties for the Dean and Director of Corrections Education at CRCC. The Program Assistant will independently administer GED tests and related Pearson registrations and disseminate scores to students and teachers. This position will also perform a variety of clerical projects and assignments such as establishing record keeping, filing systems, database files, and inventories. Professionally and respectfully communicates with students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Resolves problems and responds to inquiries requiring substantive knowledge of office and departmental procedures and policies in coordination with the Director and Dean of Corrections Education at CRCC. Conditions/Terms of Employment Successful completion of a contractor training followed by a three-week DOC CORE training. This classified position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative. This position is located inside the Coyote ridge Corrections Center, an adult male prison and interacts daily with WWCC faculty, office co-workers, supervisors, DOC personnel and students. Duties require the use of standard office furniture and equipment (e.g. desk, filing cabinet, computer, printer, telephone, copy machine, etc.) and use and wear of a WSP provided radio. This contract position work schedule will typically be Monday - Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Incumbent may be expected to occasionally adjust the work schedule to meet business needs. Some travel may be required, and is typically local or regional, to attend training. The college has an excellent benefit program including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; and retirement plan. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) unless declined at time of hire. WWCC requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary. The college is tobacco free.
