Budget Title: Assistant Vice President

Duties:

• Cultivating and sourcing funding from international, national and foundation organizations to support the teaching, scholarship, and creative work of faculty.
• Working with faculty and staff to assess needs, readiness and aspirations for extramural support and provide education on grant processes.
• Develop and guide institutional educational programming on economic development opportunities.
• Developing strategies for pursuing and securing funding and work with campus leaders to align institutional goals, funding opportunities and regional partnerships and relationships. Develop and recommend plans for outreach and sustained engagement.
• Guiding development and preparation for submissions of proposals and award renewals.
• Supervise the Sponsored Programs staff, support their professional development, maintain a collegial work environment, and ensure ethical and sound administrative practices.
• Manage and maintain accurate financial data and work with appropriate colleagues on accounting and disbursement practices.
• Manage data and assessment pertaining to funding to inform college decisions such as program capacity, hiring, faculty development, etc.
• Proactively engage with colleagues at the Research Foundation as well as at other universities or national organizations regarding best-practices, evolving polices and expectations at funding agencies and educate campus stakeholders on the same.
• Recommend and manage implementation of necessary system, policy and operational changes needed to remain current and compliant.
• Serve as administrative control for compliance, oversees response to audits and reporting.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of progressive and direct experience with sponsored funding and economic development.
• Proven experience in developing and leading a collaborative team, and in collaborating and leading teams across and throughout a large and diverse organization.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills. Effective presentation skills and political acumen.
• The individual must also have awareness of the principles of intellectual property, research subjects' protection, disclosure of financial conflicts of interest, export controls, and other areas of research compliance.
• Demonstrated understanding of how to work with information technology to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of institutional operations including process redesign and simplification.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of sponsored funding mechanisms, federal, state, and private funding agencies' missions, and expectations.

• Advanced Degree (Master's, PhD, or equivalent terminal degree) with 5 or more years of administrative experience with sponsored programs and economic development.
• Knowledge of complex organizational systems including direct experience with public higher education.
