Carnegie Mellon University's department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Research Technician to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. In this role, you will assist with neurophysiology studies using animal models. You will oversee surgical, experimental, and general daily activities in the Neuro Mechatronics labs. You will be responsible for setting up the experimental apparatus, maintaining inventory, documentation, animal training, data collection, management, and analysis in collaboration with researchers, veterinarians, husbandry, and facilities staff. The Weber lab combines fundamental neuroscience and engineering research to understand physiological mechanisms underlying sensory perception, feedback control of movement, and neuro-plasticity in sensorimotor systems. Knowledge gained from these studies is being applied to invent new technologies and therapies for improving sensory and motor functions after stroke, spinal cord injury, or limb loss. These principles are also being utilized to develop wearable devices to improve sensory, motor, and cognitive functions in balanced humans. Core responsibilities include
