The Director of Annual Giving manages the annual giving program for the College of Science and Engineering (CSE) in coordination with the University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) Annual Giving team. Reporting to the Director of Stewardship and Campaign Operations, the Director of Annual Giving develops college-specific strategies and key messages to secure and steward annual gifts from alumni, faculty and staff, students, and other individuals.

Salary: $65,000 - $70,000

Responsibilities:

Annual Giving Program Oversight & Implementation â“ 85%

• Execute a comprehensive strategy for CSE Annual Giving in line with the collegeâ™s strategic plan and funding priorities, with a strong focus on donor acquisition, retention, and increased giving
• Monitor and analyze reports to ensure the annual giving program is on track to meet stated fundraising goals and adjust strategy as necessary to meet metrics
• Collaborate with the University of Minnesota Foundation (UMF) on omni-channel (including mail, email, crowdfunding, and telephone/text) appeal strategies that connect with the collegeâ™s constituents and lead to increased annual support
• Plan and lead the collegeâ™s strategy for Give to the Max Day and other online giving events, including creating crowdfunding campaigns in collaboration with departments and student groups, directing marketing efforts, and coordinating day-of activities
• Evaluate potential for special or segmented mailings and implement as appropriate
• Create written pieces for the purposes of engagement, solicitation, and acknowledgement through print and digital channels
• Collaborate with the collegeâ™s Communications team to maintain giving-related web content and develop visually appealing solicitation pieces for print and electronic media 
• Develop up-to-date information about the College of Science and Engineering and each department for the phone and digital engagement center managed by UMF
• Recruit new members to the Deanâ™s Club, the collegeâ™s leadership society for annual donors. This includes identifying and prioritizing prospective members, soliciting their annual support, and developing attractive membership benefits
• Identify solicitation projects for the UMF Leadership Annual Giving team and serve as liaison to CSE throughout the process
• Support student and faculty groups in the development of ad hoc crowdfunding campaigns
• Collaborate with student leaders to expand the collegeâ™s class gift program and encourage a culture of philanthropy among CSE students
• Remain up to date on annual fundraising strategies and tools in all appropriate communications channels and elevate recommendations for program improvements
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and students across multiple departments and colleges within the university

Stewardship of Annual and Leadership Annual Gifts â“ 15%

• Compile reports demonstrating the cumulative impact of donorsâ™ gifts to CSE
• Manage the benefits that come with Deanâ™s Club membership
• Assist in planning and staffing events to engage and thank donors at the leadership annual giving level ($1,000) and above
