Details of the role and how it fits into the team

The Deutsche Bank Corporate Bank is a leading global provider of cash management, trade finance and securities services, delivering the full range of commercial banking products and services for both corporates and institutions worldwide. The Center of Excellence (CoE) Corporate Bank was set up independently in 2019 and is now at the center of Deutsche Bank's new strategy.

The CoE team in Berlin and Mumbai acts as a central function within Institutional Cash Management (ICM) & Trade Finance Financial Institutions (TFFI) for our Correspondent Banking clients. The team is tasked with providing Financial Crime Risk Controls (FCRC) review and support within the overall Client Lifecycle. This ensures timely identification and escalation of potential Sanctions & Embargos and Financial Crime & Money Laundering related risks.

Your key responsibilities
  • Performs risk controls for Correspondent Banking clients the of client relationships with high complexity (entity, legal representatives, shareholders), by applying current Key Operation Procedures (KOPs)/ Key Operating Documents (KODs), providing analyses to identify risks that require escalation to the line of Business (KYC Officers, Accountable Client Owners (ACOs) & the Divisional Control Office (DCO)) as well as Anti Financial Crime (AFC)/Compliance and takes part in in-depth discussions as required.
  • Investigates client transactional behavior in order to identify and document transactional outliers against expected client transactional activity behavior, in line with Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) and relevant KODs/KOPs.
  • Ensures correct, clear, and structured analysis and documentation of team deliverables for management, internal & external stakeholders, and audit.
  • Documents accurately FCRC results and feedback and communicates findings to relevant stakeholders. Escalates, monitors, and follows up on necessary improvements, in order to ensure accurate adherence to the global requirements of Financial Crime controls.
  • Supports the identification and implementation of process improvements and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to investigate and assess regulatory KYC and Correspondent Banking controls.
Your skills and experiences
  • University degree in Finance, Law, Economics, Business Administration, Banking, or other relevant fields and/or equivalent professional experience require. 2+ years minimum of prior experience in Compliance, Anti Money Laundering, Transaction Monitoring, Know Your Client, Audit, Risk, or other related roles required, ideally within large international Financial Institutions, with a focus on Correspondent Banking.
  • Ability to filter large volume of data & information for relevance against established criteria.
  • Good research and analytical skills, combined with a good sense of risk awareness.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, diligence, and the ability to deliver high quality results within tight deadlines. Very strong communication skills, the role necessitates the ability to effectively communicate messages across diverse stakeholder levels.
  • Team player with strong work ethics, able to motivate others and work independently. Eager to work and collaborate within a multicultural and diverse environment. We value collaborative team players with strong work ethics, able to operate independently under limited supervision.
  • Fluent communication skills in written and spoken English required, German beneficial. Profound command of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), VBA knowledge beneficial.
