Bethel University has an immediate opening for Payroll & Employee Benefits Manager

Role:
Handles all phases of payroll and benefit administration for the university.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Process Payroll:

•Inputs and processes payroll data to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
•Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
•Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
•Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
•Administers payroll according to multi-state laws.
•Responsible for time keeping system, including staff updates. Review timecards for accuracy and appropriated approval.
•Audits wage compensation to ensure an accurate payroll.
•Post payroll to General Ledger

Administers Benefits:
•Along with the Director of Human Resources, work with benefit broker to evaluate, communicate, and administer benefit plans for all group insurance options offered. Responsible for preparation and execution of annual open enrollment.
•Act as liaison between employees and insurance vendors regarding coverage questions and claim disputes. Handle benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution. Process any changes with the vendor within the timeframes allowed.
•Responsible for administering and maintaining 403(b) plan. This includes being the primary contact for annual 403(b) audit and compiling all requested information.
•Responsible for ensuring accurate reporting of IRS Form 1095.
•Conduct benefit orientation for all new employees, including new higher paperwork and review of benefits.
•Prepare all benefit documents for new hires and terminating employees.

Additional Duties:
•Administers FMLA, vacation and sick leave.
•Maintain all employee records.
•Initial contact for worker's compensation, filing claims and monitoring work status.
•Processes all new hires, including new hire paperwork and entering data into various systems.
•Assists with various employee events including annual Service Award Recognition.
•Processes various reports as needed including IPEDS, Worker's Comp Audits, OSHA log, etc.
•Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
•Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control and payroll taxes.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Excellent communication skills to interact with employees and vendors.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
•Proficient with payroll software.
•Understand accounting and general ledger entries.

Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
•Three to five years of related experience required.
•Payroll experience is highly desired.

Physical Requirements:
•Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
