Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is recruiting for a leadership position to support the growing oncology pharmacy service line. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is an academic medical center and an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist continues to earn recognition as one of the top institutions of its kind in the country. In 2018 U.S. News & World Report ranked it highest in North Carolina for cancer care and 19th in the nation. WFBH is innovative and continues to expand clinical trials with the recent opening of a dedicated Phase I oncology unit and a new CAR-T program. Wake Forest Baptist recently joined with Atrium Health based in Charlotte, NC to create one enterprise, accounting for 42 hospitals and creating the next generation academic health system. The cancer center serves all of North Carolina and some areas of Virginia and Tennessee, the new enterprise reaches more than 7 million people which will now include Georgia and South Carolina.

The operations manager for satellite clinics will support the Oncology Service Line and all hematology/oncology clinical services and will be responsible for all operations at the seven satellite clinics. There is a potential for additional responsibilities across the health system as assigned.  Essential functions required of the positions are as follows:

Engagement
1. Serves as conduit between members of their assigned pharmacy practice team and members of the department leadership team, ensuring alignment with and balance of the needs of each group and the vision for the course of pharmacy practice in assigned areas.
2. Foster open & collaborative environment in which team members may discuss opportunities for service expansion, performance improvement, professional development, and other activities as well as topics essential to providing excellent pharmacy services.
3. Serves as team leader within defined area of practice through activities such as professional development, completion of performance appraisals and individual goal-setting activities for team members, and involvement of team members in appropriate departmental and organizational committees and activities.

Quality

2. Accountable for team activities, adherence to state and federal regulations, and achievement of established practice, safety, quality standards, outcomes, and targets.

Utilization
1. Works with members of pharmacy leadership team and other Team Leaders to track and manage pharmaceutical utilization, costs, and prescribing trends to identify opportunities for improvement and outcome measures of related initiatives.
2. Provide leadership in departmental strategic planning of clinical resource utilization including Practice Leaders, Front Line Care Givers, residents, students, interns, and technicians.
3. Accountable for ensuring that their team achieves financial targets relating to personnel and medication expenses.

Productivity
1. Prevent, detect, and resolve medication-related problems, and make appropriate evidence-based, patient-centered medication therapy recommendations as part of the interdisciplinary team.
2. Evaluation of the need for additional infrastructure and resources necessary to meet the clinical service goals for team and department, providing guidance regarding appropriate expenditure and allocation of time and resources for team members.

In addition to the core responsibilities, this individual will be responsible for execution of strategic initiatives as assigned by the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy, Program Director II. Examples may include regulatory requirements, operational efficiency and standardization, utilization support, and other core business planning.

It will be imperative that this individual is a self-starter who can independently assess a given situation and apply the principles of situational leadership when appropriate. Change management skills, creative thinking, and high emotional intelligence will be vital to this individual’s success.
