Position Summary:

Essential Functions:

• Provides the Fordham Community with sound recommendations regarding labor and employee relations disputes, performance counseling, employee disputes, employee discipline and separations.
• Ensures positive labor/management relationships and aids in the interpretation of the Collective Bargaining Agreements and Administrative Policies.
• Mediates and reconciles disputes between management and employees regarding their differences during Steps 2 and 3 of the Grievance Procedure in the Local 153 and Local 810 Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Conducts workplace investigations of harassment, discrimination and retaliation in employment following University policies and procedures and applicable local, state and federal laws. Interviews complainants, respondents and witnesses; drafts final investigative reports; and discusses outcome and remediation steps with supervisors.
• Participates in union negotiations meetings by maintaining accurate minutes, and assists management with the collection of Requests for Information (RIFs).
• Accurately records minutes during workplace investigation meetings, labor/employee relations conferences, union contract negotiations, etc.
• Performs a variety of research to support the HR compliance function.
• Assists in implementation of new labor tracking software. Responsible for data entry, record maintenance and running reports from the labor tracking software.
• Serves as a back-up for the workplace accommodations process
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.
• Minimum one year experience in a Human Resource Labor & Employee Relations position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or JD.
• Higher education experience.
• Professional HR generalist certifications are highly desirable, including Society of Human Resources Management: Senior/Professional in Human Resources (SPHR/PHR), or Certified Professional (SHRM- SCP/CP) preferred. Cornell University – School of Industrial and Labor Relations: Advanced Certificate in Employee Relations and Investigations is also highly desirable.
  
  
  
  
  

Minimum Salary: $80,000

Maximum Salary: $92,000
