Job Summary:

Essential Duties:

• Office management and daily supervision of operations in CAAS. Process personnel appointments, process time, attendance, and payroll, create travel itineraries for faculty and guests, handle travel reimbursements, make departmental purchases, and manage financial transactions. Monitor budgets and reconcile account statements.
• Relieve program director of a wide variety of administrative duties and large volume of decisions that require an understanding of the functions, programs, and policies of the university such as preparation and maintenance of scholarships, stipends, and scheduling academic courses in MyMav.
• Serve as academic advisor to students minoring in African American Studies (AAST). Process students into MyMav as minors in AAST, aid students in course enrollment, serve as liaison to academic departments/units regarding administrative policies and procedures for cross-listing courses.
• Compose complex correspondence (memos, brochures, newsletters, emails, branding, etc.) and disseminate information. Maintain CAAS website, supervise students, and process paperwork regarding compliance.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with two years upper-level secretarial experience, OR High School degree with six years of increasingly responsible administrative, secretarial, and clerical experience including two years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in African American Studies or other related field.
• Experience working with college students in a university setting. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, UT Share, MyMav, Canvas, Digital Measures, and other University programs, policies, and procedures.
• Excellent computer skills, accuracy in all phases of work, including excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
