Purpose: Oversees and manages the provision of all legal services for the state’s central accounting agency.  Provides strategic guidance, consultation, and support to management on a comprehensive range of legal and associated issues involved in carrying out the mission of the CGO.

Responsibilities of the General Counsel:

• You will represent and/or coordinate the representation of the CGO in all legal matters with a great degree of independence and discretion.
• You will prepare and issue legal opinions as requested by agency staff.
• You will inform and advise the Comptroller General and executive leadership on legal implications of proposed legislation, policies, and administrative decision.
• You will represent the CGO in cases pending in judicial and administrative forums including appeals.
• You will review CGO policies and procedures to give constructive legal feedback.
• You will provide legal guidance to the Comptroller General in the review and approval of matters before the State Fiscal Accountability Authority.
• You will provide guidance to the Public Engagement Officer in efforts to receive, review, and resole media, constituent, and stakeholder requests.
• You will serve as the agency’s Ethics and Privacy Officer.
