Experience with NIJ, NIH, and NSF federal grant sponsor submission criteria and performance standards is highly desired. Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties: Directs and coordinates activities of the College of Criminal Justice (COCJ) grant opportunities and activities, faculty professional development, and research project management. Oversees the administration and supervision of COCJ grant projects and research opportunities. Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only): Directs the day-to-day operations of designated projects, overseeing staff and consultants. Offers insights on project budgets and schedules, reporting progress to the College of Criminal Justice (COCJ) Senior Associate Dean of Faculty Development. Manages research contracts, ensuring project performance aligns with budget, schedule, and quality standards. Plans and directs project activities to achieve goals within specified timeframes and funding limits. Reviews project proposals, determining timeframes, funding, procedures, staffing requirements, and resource allocation. Acts as a liaison with internal and external project partners to ensure timely progress within budget constraints. Establishes work plans during grant development, facilitating recruitment and assignment of project personnel as needed. Confers with project teams to outline work plans, duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority. Provides financial projections throughout grant progression. Directs project personnel to ensure on-schedule progress within prescribed budgets. Reviews status reports, ensuring communication of schedule modifications with stakeholders. Prepares project reports and data analytics for college leadership, clients, and other stakeholders. Serves as a liaison with project partners to provide technical advice and resolve issues. Ensures project compliance with government regulatory activities. Oversees adherence to policies and procedures by outside consultants, recommending corrective actions to the Principal Investigator (PI) and Senior Associate Dean. Offers recommendations on staff and consultant performance. Represents the University at meetings with sponsors, including local, state, and federal agencies. Coordinates submittal reviews and attends preliminary meetings with PI's, Office of Sponsored Programs (ORSP), and Office of Research Administration (ORA) to understand COCJ research and grants fully. Assists faculty in identifying research opportunities, preparing PI responsibilities, and facilitating faculty professional development through training. Conducts design analysis and assists other COCJ grant staff in project and PI support. Develops and maintains grant-related records. Assists COCJ faculty with grant-related documents, budget control, and in-house training. Ensures quality control of projects, reviewing fidelity checklists with project staff and monitoring grant efforts. Reviews faculty and staff reports before submission to sponsors, preparing monthly reports of grant activities. Oversees sub-award management regarding financials and compliance. Reviews invoices with PI before payment requests. Participates in technical and professional societies and civic organizations. Acts as a liaison with ORSP and ORA for timely submission of grants, reports, and accounting. Performs other related duties as assigned.
