The salary for this position is $5,834.00 per month.

Under the direction of Dr. Sabrina Smiley, incumbents provide considerable independent input into the planning, organizing, coordination and execution of the NIH-funded RESTORE program. Assignments are of a high level of responsibility and require specialized skills.

The Racial Equity in Systems to Treat Opioid Disorder for Everyone (RESTORE) is a community-academic research collaborative within the Division of Health Promotion and Behavioral Science in the School of Public Health at San Diego State University.

The program is funded by the National Institutes of Health-National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIH-NIDA) to initiate a researech agenda (RESTORE) on how to increase access and uptake of medication for opiod use disorder (MOUD) among Black individuals with opiod use disorder who seek treatment in California community health care clinics (CHCs), and on how to best utilize CHS's as destigmatized, inclusive and equitable MOUD treatment sites. The goals is to substantially advance equity for underserved communities experiencing adverse outcomes from substance use disorders and barriers to treatment.

Responsibilities
The Clinical Research Program Manager is responsible for but not limited to:



Oversight and coordination for the NIH-NIDA-funded Racial Equity in Systems to Treat Opioid Disorder for Everyone (RESTORE) program.



Position Specific Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the RESTORE program.
  • Coordinate and act as a liaison with community health care clinics in California with a focus on building a progression in the continuum of substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and addressing specific needs of vulnerable populations.
  • Develop and manage program budgets and recommend or make budgetary and resource allocations. Provide financial status reports as requested.
  • Recruit, screen, hire, and train staff in accordance with University policies. Assesses need for technical and professional growth and recommends development opportunities.
  • Develop operating policies and processes to ensure effective, efficient, and secure use of data.
  • Be integral to envisioning and actualizing the RESTORE programs strategic plan for expansion.
  • Assists in writing grant applications, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, publications, Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs), and presentations.

Project Specific Knowledge and Abilities
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-site randomized controlled trials or large scale randomized controlled trials.
  • Demonstrated experience managing randomized controlled trial teams.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting community-engaged research.
  • Ability to run a high quality randomized controlled trial program in clinical settings, organizing and motivating teams to follow good clinical practice and regulatory requirements, while providing excellent patient care and study conduct.
  • A valid California driver's license, basic required California state insurance coverage and access to an automobile.
  • Ability to work at more than one site, travel to participating clinics and attend off-site meetings and conferences.


Qualifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Equivalent to a masters degree in appropriate field related to program/project.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE

  • Six years of experience at a Program Specialist II level, two years of which were in a position with high level of responsibility and requiring specialized skills.

PREFERRED
  • Supervision experience
