![]() Program Coordinator About the Opportunity Northeastern and partner universities were recently awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation Research Traineeship (NRT) award; check out the news here! The College of Engineering is looking for a Program Coordinator who is excited about building new programs and working with graduate students. The role is hybrid, with an expectation to work from the Boston campus 1 - 4 times a week. The National Science Foundation Research Traineeship (NRT) award, 'Platforms for Exchange and Allocation of Resources (PEAR),' granted to Northeastern University, University of Houston, and Hampton University (two of which are minority-serving institutions), aims to provide students with a holistic education. This encompasses the integration of business, policy, and social science principles into ethical engineering practice. It also equips them to navigate unregulated, evolving work environments and understand how technological advancements create value and influence society. PEAR anticipates training over 80 MS and PhD students, including 22 stipend fellows, across various doctoral programs at Northeastern University, University of Houston, and a new Master's in Engineering Entrepreneurship program at Hampton University. The training model follows evidence-based practices, particularly focusing on interdisciplinary learning and engaging underrepresented populations. Through a well-structured curriculum, mentorship, professional development, and research opportunities, PEAR Fellows will be prepared to shape the future of digital platforms, ensuring equitable economic opportunities, sustainable consumption, and ethical technology design. These professionals will play a pivotal role in defining the future of work in the realm of human-technology interactions and leveraging the data revolution in sectors like energy, health, transportation, logistics, and more. PEAR leverages the strengths of each institution: Northeastern's expertise in experiential learning, Hampton's focus on engineering entrepreneurship, and University of Houston's engineering partnerships, particularly in the energy sector. A formal external evaluation will track outcomes, contributing to the understanding of effective graduate education models in convergent research areas like digital platforms. Job Description: The Program Coordinator will support PEAR programmatic activities using appropriate IT, financial, communications and reporting tools. Reporting to the PI, the Project Coordinator will work closely with the PI and rest of the PEAR team to manage the educational and research activities, manage scheduling and communication with stakeholders, support the trainee application process, recruitment efforts, support mentoring, foster the collaboration between Northeastern University and the two partnering minority-serving institutions and collect data for program evaluation and reporting to NSF. Program Coordinator will develop project plans and milestones and help ensure execution of these plans as well as ensuring that all grantor contractual and regulatory requirements are met.
