About the Position: This role is housed in the Natural Resources Institute within UW-Madison's Division of Extension (https://extension.wisc.edu/). The Natural Resources Institute is comprised of a team of researchers and outreach specialists who possess a wide range of backgrounds and expertise. From providing water and forestry programming, conservation training and youth environmental education, to leading in-depth studies of the geology, mineral resources, lakes and groundwater of Wisconsin, our outreach specialists, educators, researchers, affiliates, and support teams navigate complex issues, facilitate challenging conversations, and help prepare and guide the next generation of community leaders
The Natural Resources Education Team works together to design, deliver, and evaluate research-based educational programming and services aligned with the position's programmatic focus. The team focuses heavily on integrating human dimensions perspectives into natural resources management decisions. Initial programming focus will include:
Providing education and outreach focused on water quality and conservation practices to fresh market growers, such as artisan farms or farmers market growers, and new farmers.
Work with Central Sands Groundwater Coordinating Committee to identify outreach and education priorities in the region
Connect with the Southwest Wisconsin Groundwater and Geology study
Coordinate efforts with UWSP Groundwater Center and Geological and Natural History Survey with specific Central Wisconsin implementation
Address groundwater specific issues identified in social indicator surveys with producers
Explore groundwater/drinking water outreach coordinated with Wood County Land Conservation.
Connect with new Emerging Contaminants specialist for targeted local outreach
Work with the Natural Resources Educator team to utilize the skills of the network of educators to exchange skills where others can assist with programs.

Responsibilities:
Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.
15% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
10% Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program
20% Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
15% Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
20% Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
10% Works with the Regional Natural Resource Educator team to fulfill funding partners requirements around outreach and education.
10% Communicate plans, activities and achievements to Program Managers, partners and relevant stakeholders

Education:
Required Bachelor's Degree in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position, including, but not limited to human dimensions or behavior change in natural resource management, ag extension, rural sociology, hydrogeology, water resources, geology, soil science, agronomy, environmental science, environmental health or other closely related fields.
Preferred Master's Degree in a field relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position.
Qualifications:
Required: - Work experience relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position. - Experience working with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.
Preferred: - Experience planning, implementing, and/or evaluating community-based, non-formal, innovative educational programs related to natural resources. - At least 2 years' experience developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes preferably in a water quality, drinking water, or other natural resources context. - Experience in facilitation to assist other agencies, community-based services, or organizations address educational and organizational needs. - Demonstrated skill in interpreting, utilizing, and applying evidence-based information and research findings.

This position may require some work to be performed in-person and onsite. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration:
Terminal, 24 month appointment. This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding
Salary:
Minimum $57,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications
