The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of the UW-Madison campus in support of the university's education, research, and outreach activities.
FP&M works behind the scenes to coordinate campus planning, manage design and construction, maintain and operate buildings and grounds, supply utility services, ensure health and safety, and provide parking and transportation services.
The Senior Interior Designer position is an integral member of the in-house Architect/Engineer (AE) Group that designs remodeling projects for construction by the in-house trades. AE teams design remodeling projects for a multitude of building, construction and space types. This position works with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to provide Interior design services such as developing space layouts, furniture and finish selections, three dimensional Revit drawings, construction drawings, preliminary estimating, and assistance with the purchase and installation of furniture utilizing state procurement contracts
Responsibilities:
Assesses and meets client design requirements, designs, coordinates renovation and refurbishes interior spaces, and collaborates with other construction professionals to ensure design solutions align with client needs and meet regulatory and professional building standards.
25% Designs, and renovates interior spaces according to aesthetic preferences, structural requirements, and established policies and procedures
20% Assesses, interprets, finalizes, and provides consultations to clients regarding design plans, expectations, and the execution process
25% Communicates and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders and construction professionals to complete assigned projects and adhere to established timelines
10% Schedules logistics and secures resources for the procurement of necessary project materials
5% Serves as a subject matter expert to unit leadership regarding interior finishes technology, design methodology and execution for varying facilities efforts
5% Performs cost estimating on a per-element, -assembly and/or -square foot basis utilizing conventional estimating tools
5% Acts as design team lead on a per-project basis to ensure project delivery is coordinated, budget-sensitive, timely, customer-focused and compliant with the codes that pertain to interior design work
5% Performs space utilization studies and interior finishes evaluations for customers when requested or required

Salary:
Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications The starting salary for the position is $70,000 annually but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
