 Health Information Coder III - Health Information - F/T, Days Updated: Nov 17, 2023 Location: Anaheim Job Type: Department: Health Information UC Title: HEALTH INFO CODER 3 Position Number: 40843712 Reports to: Manager, Coding Working Title: Health Information Coder III Cost Center: Health Information (428701) Bargaining Unit: AFSCME FLSA: Nonexempt Date Created: 9/20/2021 Job Code: 004733 Hours: 40 Shift: Not Applicable FTE: 1 Position Summary: Reporting to the Manager of Coding, the Coder III performs abstracting and coding using ICD 10 CM and ICD 10 PCS on all inpatient visits at UCI Medical Center. The purpose of this position is to apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to individual patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Accounts are coded utilizing Using Epic and 3m360 computer systems for coding and data entry. Additional duties include preparing and compiling daily, weekly and monthly production reports, participating in departmental PI projects, and performing related duties as assigned to meet operational needs Total Compensation In addition to the salary range listed below, we offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding. Salary Range: Hourly Rate Minimum $44.42 Midpoint $51.53 Maximum $58.63 Required Qualifications: Credentialed as CCS User level experience using personal computers, particularly with encoding, abstracting and prospective payment grouper systems Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in the department and across the Health System Skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of the job duties Skill to effectively assign codes Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease process and medical terminology Ability to work independently and be a self starter Preferred Qualifications: RHIT or RHIA Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
