The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the Surgery Specialty Services Unit (2RC) to provide leadership and management of the nursing team. The Surgery Specialty Unit is part of UIHC's Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division. 2RC is a 34-bed surgical unit that provides post-operative care for a variety of patients undergoing complex procedures. Essential to the care of these multidimensional patients is an interdisciplinary team skilled in the areas of post-operative disease processes. Patient care includes solid organ transplant, trauma surgery, vascular, colorectal surgery, bariatrics, and emergency general surgery. This unit is a dynamic and fast paced environment rich with opportunities for learning. We utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care that encourages teamwork between physicians, nursing staff, therapy staff, social work and a variety of other consulting disciplines to provide the most comprehensive care for our patients. In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager will assist in delivering safe, quality, family-centered patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. The Assistant Nurse Manager will support members of the nursing team by providing patient care during up to 50% of hours worked. Other tasks include but are not limited to, assisting with staff onboarding/education, ELMS scheduling/payroll, completing audits, coaching/accountability discussions, shared on-call with Assistant Manager and Nurse Manager, and assisting the unit with ongoing Joint Commission readiness.
