Not everyone gets the opportunity to work for a top hedge fund in New York City. ?? Generally, you???ll need to be in the top 5% of your peer group just to be considered. Then you???ll need to navigate a really tough interview process. ?? Then if you get the job, you???re going to find that at least some of it is pretty manual. No matter how established the fund is, chances are, the infrastructure won???t be great and you???ll fighting fires fairly regularly. The stakeholders are even more demanding than in banks and your average working day will be more intense (although not always longer). You don???t have the rigid structure of a bank, so you won???t be promoted every 2-3 years either. It???s a real challenge. ?? Still with me? Good! ?? So why put yourself through it? ?? Well, the roles tend to be much broader. You get exposure to multiple asset classes and tend to have a much wider range of responsibilities. Poor systems? That just means you can make a real, visible impact with improvements. You???re accountable too. Nowhere to hide, but it???s more obvious when you???re doing a good job. You???ll work with and learn from some of the very brightest minds in the finance industry. You won???t be promoted every couple years, but the less rigid structure means you???ll be given more responsibility quickly if you???re good. There???s less red tape around internal moves out of your function too (think sales, trading, risk, business management etc). ?? Oh, and the money is very good. Those 10% bonuses from banking become a thing of the past and your base salary will increase based on the impact you???re making, not just when you get promoted. 3x, 5x, even 10x the bonuses you???re getting in banking are possible at a fund. ?? If you work for a bank and your last few appraisals have been ???exceeding expectations???, then this move might be for you. You???re probably happy where you are, but recognise you could be happier, better paid and working for a more interesting business. ?? I???m looking for product controllers, or valuation controllers, from any asset class. Must be eligible to work in the US and happy with a total comp number in the $160k-$200k bracket initially (this will jump in year two). ?? Please apply, or drop me a line to find out more! ?? ??
