![]() Having celebrated its 50th year dedicated to Gospel values, academic excellence, and the uniqueness of each child, Lial Catholic School now seeks its second lay Head of School, to begin July 1, 2024. Lial Catholic School is an independent PK-8 Catholic school sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame and governed by an effective Board of Trustees. Nestled as a "little school in the woods" in Toledo's growing Oak Openings area, Lial Catholic School offers an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate to provide caring leadership in a well-established and fully enrolled school community. Lial Catholic School has twice been named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Lial Catholic School is well-regarded for its academic program. The next Head of School will have a rare opportunity to lead a school featuring a Montessori Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten program that flows into a multi-age, continuous progress educational environment in elementary and middle school years. Lial Catholic School's non-graded multi-age philosophy allows students multiple opportunities and years, if necessary, to develop success and provides extensions to students ready to learn more. Grade lines are eliminated to help students acquire skills at their rate, growing in self-confidence as they do so. This continuous progress environment fosters inner freedom; students share in responsible academic decision-making from their earliest days at Lial Catholic School. Self-evaluation cultivates an inner discipline and authentic freedom that instills the confidence essential for proper growth and development. Students expand their thinking and reach for goals that are both challenging and realistic. Lial Catholic School's Montessori and multi-age approach has resulted in success demonstrated by the high number of graduates earning high school scholarships and honor roll status. Lial Catholic School students are guided by the Lial Catholic School Covenant, written to express their rights and responsibilities within the school community. From the first pillar, "Because I am a Child of God, I have the right to be happy and to be treated with kindness and the responsibility to treat you with kindness," to the eight others, the covenant captures the school’s core beliefs and values. Students are formed with this covenant top of mind, and in partnership with parents, the Lial Catholic School Covenant also expands into the school community. Lial Catholic School is marked by kindness, acceptance of the uniqueness of each person, and growth in faith and in the Catholic tradition. The next Head of School will be supported by experienced faculty members and a well-established principal, administrative staff, finance director, and advancement officer. As an independent Catholic school, the Head of School reports to the Board of Trustees. Lial Catholic School offers an outstanding opportunity to lead a special and distinctive school community. The search committee seeks candidates who are capable and comfortable providing visible leadership in faith life, academics, advancement, and the broader community. Candidates must be practicing Catholics. Interested leaders are invited to contact Chris Keavy, lead search counsel, to schedule an informal, confidential conversation.
