 ANML HEALTH TCHN 3 (Small Animal And Critical Care Service Veterinary Technician) Job Summary Independent of supervision in a hospital setting, as a significant part of daily duties, responsible for treatment of patients with life-threatening illness or injury, whose conditions are likely to change on a moment-to-moment basis. Provide nursing care to either emergency room or intensive care unit patients using established protocols set up by small animal emergency and critical care faculty. Employees are expected to be able to work independently under these guidelines in a teaching environment including providing quasi-instruction to veterinary students. Facility maintenance for the unit and temporary support to other VMTH departments at times may be required. RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the removal date. Department Overview The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) is a unit that provides clinical case material in support of the teaching programs throughout the School of Veterinary Medicine on a 24-hour basis. Its primary objectives are to train professional (veterinary) students, graduate clinical students (interns and residents), and graduate academic students; to provide veterinary services to the public; to serve as a referral center for practicing veterinarians, and to advance veterinary medical knowledge.
