Technician, Research Laboratory A

Job Description Summary
This hire will be responsible for animal care and maintenance. The primary responsibility will be for the lab's mouse colony with a secondary role in assistance with zebrafish husbandry, if necessary. This hire will be trained in colony management which includes scheduled matings, genotyping and management of cage census and colony database. This hire will also participate in mouse experiments related to intestinal and liver biology; this involve administration of medications/drugs, daily observation of response to treatment, necropsy, organ retrieval and analysis. If necessary, this hire will participate in zebrafish experiments related to intestinal and liver biology. Training will be provided for these tasks as needed. This hire will also contribute to lab maintenance and ordering.

Mouse experiments: Experiments involving intestinal and liver biology
Mouse colony maintenance: Matings, genotyping, database entries
Lab maintenance: Ordering, record keeping, safety and regulatory matters
Zebrafish experiments: Experiments involving intestinal and liver biology
Zebrafish husbandry: Assist with matings, embryo recovery and rearing
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

High School Grad/GE Degree and at least 0-1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience working with animal models is required

Position is contingent upon Grant funding

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
