 Research Chemist (Temporary) About the Opportunity Job Summary: We are seeking a research chemist to support research focused on the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel 2-dimensional polymers in Northeastern University's Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex, Boston Campus. The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:
The research chemist will have the opportunity to meet government decision-makers and learn directly from them about the role of scientific research in addressing complex, real-world needs. Furthermore, the research chemist will have the opportunity to learn how research products transition from the proof-of-concept stage to integrated production systems. It is expected that the research chemist will develop and execute a career development plan in coordination with the PI. Minimum Qualifications: Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Must have a Ph.D. in chemistry or equivalent expertise with demonstrated accomplishments in organic synthesis, separations, and structural characterization using modern techniques, e.g. Schlenk line, chromatography, NMR, FTIR, XRD techniques; Must be a highly motivated, innovative chemist, with demonstrated excellence in research and experience in polymer chemistry and material science. Must be team-oriented, with a proven track-record of natural leadership. This position requires excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and scientific, oral, and written. Must be able to undertake full-time research. All candidates should describe how they support a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment inside and outside the laboratory. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities 1. Assist in initiating, executing, and completing laboratory research and experiments 2. Prepare and write research papers, presentations, grant proposals, etc. 3. Laboratory management 4.
