Billing Specialist

The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the billing process for the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health Clinic (75%) and Belin Blank Center Clinic (25%), ensuring compliance with insurance requirements, and providing financial counseling to clients. The billing specialist works closely with the clinic supervisors, the staff, and the third-party payers to facilitate timely and accurate reimbursement for the services provided by the clinics. The billing specialist also assists with developing and testing billing systems, documenting billing policies and procedures, conducting internal audits, and reporting financial data.
Location: Onsite in the College of Education.
Appointment: Full-time, P&S Specified Term Appointment. Possibility for renewal. Initial term through June 30, 2025.
Schedule: Monday-Friday on site 8 am - 5 pm.

About the Departments The Scanlan Center for School Mental Health is the state's hub for school-based mental health research, training, professional learning, and clinical services. We work with schools, districts, AEAs, universities/colleges, and key stakeholders across the state to support the well-being of PreK-12 students and educators as well as college students and faculty. A partnership between the University of Iowa College of Education and the Iowa Department of Education, the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health launched in June 2021 with an ambitious mission - to provide social, emotional behavioral, and psychological services to all of Iowa's schools across 99 counties, not only to aid in COVID-19 recovery but to build state capacity for immediate and future delivery of mental health supports. The was founded in 1988 and quickly developed into an internationally respected powerhouse providing innovative programming for gifted and talented students in addition to our groundbreaking work with teachers. As we grew, the Center added counseling services and programming for twice-exceptional children-those who are both gifted and have a diagnosed disorder that impacts their learning or social-emotional development. Located in the , the Belin-Blank Center is an integral part of the University of Iowa's College of Education.
