Position Description: Associate Director of Finance and Administration, Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering

Overview:

The Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering at Rowan University seeks an experienced Director of Finance and Administration to provide strategic financial leadership and oversee all administrative functions. The Director will ensure the financial health and operational efficiency of the College, aligning with the university's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:

• Collaborate with the Dean to develop and manage the College's budget, ensuring compliance with university and regulatory requirements.
• Strategically plan and oversee all revenue-generating programs and cost centers.
• Track and manage endowments, donations, and sponsorships, coordinating with the Office of University Advancement.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage faculty start-up commitments.
• Conduct and present financial analyses and reports to enhance fiscal planning and decision-making.
• Analyze financial data to identify growth opportunities and develop optimization and growth strategies.
• Oversee the fiscal closing process, including managing expense and revenue accruals and addressing operating deficits.
• Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Administrative Leadership:

• Supervise and support administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
• Oversee human resources functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and staff development.
• Work closely with the Provost’s office on hiring and budgeting matters.
• Provide financial guidance and support to department leadership and staff.
• Oversee all hiring processes within the College.
• Monitor and approve College expenditures, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
• Manage research-related purchasing and budgeting for grants, interfacing with the Office of Sponsored Programs and college departments.

Strategic Planning and Collaboration:

• Collaborate with senior leaders to help implement the College’s strategic plan.
• Serve as a liaison with university central administration, representing the College’s financial interests.
• Participate in university-wide committees and initiatives, contributing to broader strategic objectives.
• Support the Dean in long-term financial planning and strategic initiatives.

Risk Management and Compliance:

• Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Ensure compliance with university policies, as well as state and federal regulations.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard the College’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management and administration, in higher education.
• Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Knowledge of higher education financial and administrative practices and regulations.
