Position Information:
The College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) is the largest college at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). Our strength is our interdisciplinary power. More than 10,000 students select from 60+ majors and study alongside faculty who support their dreams. To support our students, faculty, and staff, the primary responsibilities of the CHASS Web Application Developer include application development, data modeling, and database design to enable interoperability and interconnectivity within federated enterprise systems. The incumbent will act as a programmer to develop enterprise applications for CHASS and its customers, particularly in emerging cloud computing and web services environments. Additionally, the incumbent will work collaboratively with UCR ITS and other campus IT units to align with CHASS business needs. General responsibilities include providing technical support in collaboration with CHASS IT and ITS team members.
This position is eligible for a hybrid remote work schedule.

The full salary range for the Web Application Developer is $31.85 - $56.66 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $31.85 - $50.45 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

General knowledge of several areas of IT. Knowledge relating to the design and development of software. Basic knowledge of secure software development. Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of system performance monitoring and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Basic knowledge of incident response procedures. Demonstrated ability to follow software specifications. Knowledge of business processes and procedures. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards. Demonstrated knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies. Demonstrated skills applying security controls to computer software and hardware. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills. Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated understanding of how system management actions affect users and dependent/related functions. Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner. Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Demonstrates problem-solving skills. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines. Familiar with Java, Javascript, HTML, CSS, MySQL, Web Service & API architecture. Familiar with frontend frameworks such as Angular, React, etc. Proficient in web based application development, Linux, Windows, OS X, iOS, Android operating systems environment, and GIT version control.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with database administration. Knowledge with TypeScript and Angular for front end development and Groovy, Grails, Spring, Hibernate, Struts for back end development. Eclipse and Intellij IDEs. Cloud computing technology, Linux and Windows server administration, firewall technology, unit testing methodology.
