Posted Job Title Genomics Data Scientist (Department of Translational Medicine and Human Genetics) Job Profile Title Data Analyst C Job Description Summary Are you passionate about genomics, big data, and contributing to groundbreaking research in the field of cardiometabolic diseases? The Vujkovic lab is seeking a skilled Genomics Data Scientist to perform genetics analyses in the UK Biobank, Million Veteran Program, and Penn Medicine Biobank. Dr. Vujkovic is a genetic epidemiologist and her research program focuses on leveraging genomics and real-world data for discoveries related to drug development and repurposing. We are specifically seeking individuals with a strong background in biostatistics, bioinformatics, and/or epidemiology. Job Description As a successful applicant, you will play an essential role in advancing cutting-edge multi-omics research to explore genetic mechanisms underlying cardiometabolic diseases with the ultimate goal of contributing to innovative treatment strategies. In your role as Genomics Data Scientist you will lead studies end-to-from hypothesis formulation and study design to pipeline development, method assessment, implementation, and publication of results. You possess strong data processing skills in the UNIX/Linux environment and familiarity with high-performance computing clusters. You will be working with diverse data types generated by various platforms and technologies, including clinical, genotype, RNA-seq, and proteomics data. Preferred qualifications include experience with genetic association studies, colocalization, genetic risk prediction, Mendelian randomization, fine-mapping and longitudinal data modeling. The successful applicant will keep Dr. Vujkovic apprised of project progress, prepare written reports for publication and grant submission, and present results at national meetings. This role role involves training of junior data analysts, students, and postdocs, especially in the use of genomics tools and resources Duties: - End-to-end study lead: from hypothesis formulation and study design to pipeline development, method assessment and implementation. - Analyze clinical/genomics data using statistical approaches such as longitudinal analysis, mixed-effect modeling, regression, and machine learning in large EHR-based biobanks, such as the UK Biobank, Million Veteran Program, and Penn Medicine Biobank. - Implement bioinformatic methods for population genetics studies, such as GWAS, QTL colocalization, fine-mapping, (poly)genetic risk prediction, pleiotropy analysis, and mendelian randomization. - Keep the PI appraised of project progress, and nation-wide collaboration. - Prepare written reports for publication and grant submission. Present results at national meetings regarding new findings. - This role role involves training of junior data analysts, students, and postdocs, especially in the use of bioinformatics tools and methods. Qualifications Job Location - City, State Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Department / School Perelman School of Medicine Pay Range $51,824.00 - $80,000.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
