The Financial Operations Manager is a key member of Wharton Finance & Administration, reporting directly to the Associate Controller. This pivotal role will provide centralized and sophisticated financial analyses to support the diverse departments and centers within Wharton. Your expertise will be instrumental in managing the operating budget, conducting detailed financial modeling, and guiding stakeholders in budget management. This role is ideal for a proactive and analytical finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about driving financial success in a leading academic institution.

Job Description

Wharton Finance and Administration is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Financial Operations Manager to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will ensure our financial processes are robust and well-managed, supporting the mission of Wharton and its various departments and centers.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management: Oversee budgets, forecasting, reconciliations, Workday payroll, Purchase Order/Requisitions, and travel reimbursements.
Analysis & Reporting: Develop financial models, conduct spend and trend analysis, and prepare budget variance reports. Provide prioritized recommendations to aid departmental planning decisions.
Process Optimization: Standardize business processes and resource planning tools. Utilize technology to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, facilitating timely and collaborative decision-making.
Collaboration: Work closely with various departments to gain insights and implement streamlined financial operations.
Year-End Support: Assist in year-end closing and tax reporting

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor's Degree with 5-7 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Financial Expertise: Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. Strong accounting skills are essential.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in financial modeling, dashboard creation, and process automation.
Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, including professional email writing. Ability to diplomatically enforce policies and guidelines, even with senior staff.
Multitasking: Capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
