Job Description Summary
The Annenberg School for Communication is a unique place at Penn. Reporting to the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist will play a vital role in supporting the HR processes and initiatives of the Annenberg School Human Resources Office, including all Workday processes, recruitment and hiring, onboarding and offboarding, email queries, electronic file maintenance, and coordination of the general HR-related needs of the school community.

Job Description

Provide operational and administrative support to the Senior Director for all HR functional areas as needed.
Support the Senior Director and school hiring officers with responsibilities related to the recruitment and hiring process, including guidance on the preparation of job descriptions and all Workday processing activities. Create internal process documents to be shared with hiring officers.
Serve as the initial point of contact for newly hired staff, providing first-level information and support. Ensure completed Penn and ASC onboarding, including the school's internal intake process, school-level onboarding sessions, etc. Work with the Senior Director to develop and implement a robust plan of onboarding activities.
Support all offboarding functions: generate exit memos, schedule exit interviews, ensure return of school items, etc.
In a customer service capacity and with a thorough knowledge of school and university policies and Workday processes, provide general information and support related to in-person and email HR inquiries from members of the school community.
Support the Senior Director in promoting a sustainably inclusive culture and sense of community, including sharing and promoting resources for career events, professional development, wellness, work-life balance, etc.
Serve as the school's Service Recognition Coordinator. Work with the school's Director of Events to support the planning of the annual recognition event and any other HR-sponsored events.
Identify opportunities for enhanced workflows and processes; propose and implement approved changes. Develop and implement a plan for enhanced electronic record-keeping.
Consistently review and maintain ASC HR Office website content and ensure updates as needed.
Coordinating with Penn's Office of International Student and Scholar Services, manage the visa application process for international staff hires.
Serve as liaison between ASC HR, Penn core HR, and other institutional offices.
Assist the Senior Director with research and coordination related to special projects.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science and 2 to 3 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.

Overall knowledge of human resources and administrative procedures and systems is required. Working knowledge of Workday and Penn's policies and procedures is strongly preferred. Experience and comfort with the Microsoft Office suite of tools is required. Candidates must have excellent technological skills and be comfortable learning new applications. Candidates must be proactive in their approach to their responsibilities, with the ability to prioritize assignments and apply problem-solving skills. A thorough attention to detail is needed. Excellent written communication skills are necessary, including knowledge of the standards of professional writing. Strong interpersonal skills are required, and candidates must possess a courteous and professional manner. Must be reliable, punctual, and exhibit professional maturity. Candidates must be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
