Employment Type: Permanent Staff (EHRA NF) Vacancy ID: NF0008368 Salary Range: $46,900 - $65,000 Position Summary/Description: THIS IS A REPOST. PREVIOUS APPLICANTS ARE STILL BEING CONSIDERED AND NEED NOT REAPPLY. The Accountant is a key member of the School of Data Science and Society's (SDSS) growing finance and operations team. This new role will serve as the primary accounting professional for the School with wide ranging responsibilities from processing payable and receivable transactions, conducting reconciliations, monitoring fund balance and usage, as well as being the primary resource for SDSS faculty and staff on accounting and purchasing matters. In addition, the Accountant will play an important role in developing the School's financial policies and processes, documenting those functions, and communicating them to faculty and staff. This role will report to the Business Officer for SDSS. Education and Experience: Experience with Connect Carolina and university financial systems is preferred.Proficiency in using MS Word and Excel is preferred.Understanding of GAAP, UNC, and State of NC accounting and purchasing policies is preferred. Essential Skills: Requires general knowledge of accounting methods, procedures, and standard financial practices. Ability to recognize and research unusual activity or potentially incorrect matching of revenues/expenditures.Ability to understand and adhere to internal control systems. Ability to communicate accounting information in clear, concise and organized manner and adjust presentation of information to reflect need of intended audience.
