Professional Position Details: The Opportunity: The primary focus of the Washington Small Business Development Center (SBDC) program is business development education through individual and small group advising. As the Assistant Director, you will be responsible for providing management and leadership of publicly funded initiatives that serve the mission, vision, and values of the Washington SBDC. You will exemplify excellence to the Network, demonstrate professionalism in all written and verbal communications, and model the guiding principles of the Washington SBDC. As delegated by the State Director, you will:
Additionally, you will represent the Washington SBDC to key stakeholders and community partners. In confidential, one-on-one client relationships, and in adherence to the Professional Code of Conduct policies of the Washington SBDC, you will educate, mentor, and advise clients in all areas of starting, maintaining, growing, or selling a business, and collaborate with advisors across the state who request assistance on behalf of a client with needs for subject matter expertise. New employees in the SBDC network will need to successfully complete a certification program within six months of hire to become fully certified as an advisor. Certification is designed to allow the new advisor to demonstrate their comprehensive knowledge and abilities to be successful in guiding clients toward their goals while taking advantage of learning from experienced advisors sharing best practices, tools and processes they use to assist their clients. The exact location of this position is flexible, however, all position activities and responsibilities are geographically based on the Western Region of Washington State. This includes: Clallam, Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, King, Kitsap, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Pierce, San Juan, Skagit, Skamania, Snohomish, Thurston, Wahkiakum, and Whatcom Counties. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. FTE: 100% This is a Permanent position. Background Check: This position has been designated by the department to require a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults as defined by RCW 74.34, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business-related need.
