We are seeking an experienced, independent-working individual to join our NIH-sponsored Animal Phenotyping Core within the Michigan Mouse Metabolic Phenotyping Center (MMPC-Live). This candidate will be responsible for carrying out in-vivo and in-vitro physiology/pharmacology experiments in rodent models of metabolic disorders. He/she will be accountable for evaluating metabolic phenotypes in these models, specifically for assessment of whole-body glucose and lipid metabolism using 3H- and 14C- labeled tracers. This individual should have hands-on experience and expertise in in-vivo physiology/pharmacology and in the handling of rodents in particular, including some experience in performing microsurgery or intravascular infusion in conscious mice and/or rats. The candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator and senior lab members to develop, design and conduct research projects, analyze scientific results and prepare reports. Support for day-to-day housekeeping of the laboratory, experimental scheduling and maintenance records of study protocol/equipment/facility will also be required. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in physiology, pharmacology, molecular and cellular biology, or related discipline, Master's preferred. A strong work ethic, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in an organized fashion are essential. Ability to work in teams is critical. M-F, 8 hour/days, with some weekends as needed. This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
