Hanford Elementary School District Human Resources department CLASSIFIED MANAGEMENT NOTICE OF VACANCY: FISCAL SERVICES SPECIALIST $137,658 – $161,041 (12 months) Assignment: Fiscal Services Department
Responsibilities: Assists the Chief Business Official in the administration of the District’s fiscal responsibilities, and provides direct accounting services and general direction in the areas of payroll, fringe benefits, budgeting, fiscal reports, accounts payable, accounts receivable, warehouse and fixed asset inventory /capital asset accounting. Requirements: Knowledge of governmental accounting and budget theory, practices and procedures; cost analysis and organizational analysis. Knowledge of automated financial recordkeeping systems, and principles, methods and practices of public school district financial record-keeping, budgeting, auditing and financial analysis. Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be: Education: Graduation from or in the process of attaining graduation from an accredited and recognized college or university with a Bachelors Degree with major coursework in budgeting/ accounting or a related field. Experience in payroll preparation, financial accounting, budgeting beyond that required (see below), may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Experience: Five years of increasingly responsible experience in public school district payroll preparation, budgeting, accounts payable and related functions. Highly Desirable: Completion of courses in accounting. Working Conditions: Environment: Office environment; subject to frequent interruptions. Physical Abilities: Seeing to inspect financial or statistical records; hearing and speaking to communicate with District staff and the public; sitting for extended periods of time; bending, kneeling, and reaching to retrieve and file records; dexterity of hands and fingers to file and operate a computer terminal and other office equipment.
