This position will review potential purchases for information privacy and security considerations, system integrability, and compliance with standards. These reviews may include but are not limited to hardware, subscriptions, software as a service (SaaS), web-based products or services, mobile applications, or related technology solutions, whether free or paid versions. This role will directly interface with key partners to ensure requests are reviewed in compliance with university policies and procedures. The IT Vendor Risk Specialist will communicate directly with campus constituents to request information, offer guidance, and support the efficient submission and review of requests. This position will assist in managing solutions and systems that facilitate Vendor Risk Management and Governance, Risk and Compliance processes. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Graduation from a two year technical college with a major in computer science, information technology or related area and one year in the information technology field related to the position's role; or graduation from a four year college or university and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position's role; or graduation from a four year college or university with a major in computer science or information technology or related degree. Related information technology experience may be substituted year for year for the required education. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience: Required Certifications or Licensures: Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Information Technology Services Office of Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) provides management and oversight of IT compliance governance. This office is continuously engaged in enhancing the Vendor Risk Management program. Staff serve to protect information assets, satisfy regulatory obligations, minimize potential legal and liability exposures, and assist in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of UNCW critical information.
