Job Summary Working under general supervision of higher-level personnel, the Health Information Technician performs a variety of technical tasks to support the management of health information and data integrity within an electronic system in addition to management of paper medical records. Duties & Responsibilities
Additional Physical Demands Normal office setting. Allergies to hay, straw, or animal dander may cause discomfort based on location within the College of Veterinary Medicine. Position involves handling boxes containing records and reaching for records on high and low shelving. Minimum Qualifications 1. Any one or combination totaling eighteen months (18 months) from the categories below: A. coursework in a health-related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) 60 semester hours or an Associate's degree equals eighteen months (18 months) B. work experience in the preparation and/or maintenance of medical records in a health care facility or program. This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3856 - Health Information Technician position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible. This is a bargained position and as such, the salary is driven by the collective bargaining agreement. The entry-level salary for the Health Information Technician classification is $20.718/per hour. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
