JOB LOCATION: Duke Infusion Center - 234 Crooked Creek Pkwy JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified in our Duke Infusion Center clinic located in Durham, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients. $7,500 Commitment Bonus Eligible | Paid out in 2 equal installments over 12 months in 6-month increments (6 months and 12 months). **Only new hires who have not worked for Duke University Health System in the past 12 months (at the time of offer) are eligible to receive the Commitment bonus.** JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Escort patients and family members from waiting room after check-in to the assigned infusion bay.
- Perform weight, vital signs, medication and allergy review communicating any pertinent information or out of range findings to the clinical nurse.
- Obtain refreshments for the patients as needed.
- Assist with the turnover of the infusion bays once patients? infusions are complete including cleaning of chair, computer, monitor and placing clean linen on the chair.
- Re-stock infusion bays as needed with necessary medical supplies. Notify charge nurse if any supplies are in low supply. Assist in re-stocking storage rooms/med carts with needed supplies.
- Assist patients to the restroom if needed.
- Maintain environment to meet Joint Commission, OSHA and Infection Control Standards
- Perform other duties delegated by the clinical nursing staff, the Nurse Manager or the HCA.
- Obtain peripheral venous access for IV infusions and blood draw (assessment of IV to be performed by RN)
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: - Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred
- High School diploma or GED graduation required
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required
- BLS required
- Level I -- No experience required
- Level II -- 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified in a clinical setting
