We're making Maryland stronger! General Summary This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses who have greater than 12 months experience. Provides and coordinates independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the interdisciplinary team.
Clinical Practice: 2. Serves as an effective primary nurse; collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs. 3. Serves as clinical resource for others. Service/Quality: 2. Participates in implementation efforts addressing nursing quality indicators. 3. Participates and contributes to Performance Improvement, or Evidence Based Practice, or research at the unit level. 4. Complies with standards and participates with unit level activities for TJC/CARF regulatory compliance. Unit Operations: 2. Follows and supports interdisciplinary communication, collaboration, effective decision making, recognition, leadership, and staffing. 3. Assists in the development of clinical practice protocols and standards for the unit/hospital. 4. Participates in shared governance activities: Nursing Education and Practice Councils. Assists in development of action plans and supports implementation. 5. Orients Clinical Nurse I to shared governance structure and councils.
1. Serves as preceptor, coach, mentor to new nurses and students. Contributes to ancillary personnel skills and development, attends educational offerings and in-services independently. 2. Contributes to development of unit based peer review processes; actively participates in individual peer review feedback Company Description We're making Maryland stronger! The Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Program at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute helps people with a spinal injury achieve their highest level of independence. Patients receive physical, occupational, speech/language and recreational therapy six days a week. Patients admitted to the inpatient portion of the Spinal Cord Injury Program must be able to actively participate in three or more hours of daily therapy. The length of stay for spinal cord injury patients is between two to eight weeks depending on individual needs. Over 80 percent of our patients return home after discharge. The Spinal Cord Injury Program places a strong emphasis on patient/caregiver education and is one of only two facilities in Maryland accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
