Job Description Summary
Reporting directly to the Deputy Provost, the position will lead graduate academic affairs by staffing various councils, coordinating Graduate Group Reviews, and serving as the primary liaison with Graduate Groups and Schools. The role includes developing and coordinating academic and co-curricular policies, managing internal and external graduate fellowship competitions, and overseeing outreach to graduate student groups and partners across Penn. Additionally, the position supervises the directors of the Graduate Student Center and Family Resource Center and is responsible for providing briefings, reports, and correspondence for the Deputy Provost.

Job Responsibilities

Staff a variety of standing committees including but not limited to the Council of Profession Masters Program Deans, Council of Graduate Deans, and Graduate Council of the Faculties. Coordinate agendas, distribute necessary materials, write and distribute minutes, perform all necessary follow-up.
Coordinate and oversee Graduate Group Reviews; collaborate and assist on department reviews.
Lead graduate academic affairs in Provost Office; Academic administration: Liaise with Graduate Groups and Schools. Work with Councils and colleagues in Schools, VPUL, and other units to develop and coordinate policies for graduate student academic and co-curricular life. Ensure consistent application of University policies. Handle proposals to create or change academic programs, graduate admissions policies and procedures, etc.
Manage external limited submission graduate fellowship competitions and internal graduate fellowship competitions for the institution. Publicize fellowship opportunities, collect applications, share materials with selection committee, notify applicants of results, and submit Penn nominees.
Serve as primary liaison with a variety of student groups on behalf of the Provost; proactively handle outreach to graduate student groups and partners across Penn on graduate student-related issues/projects.
Supervise the directors of the Graduate Student Center and Family Resource Center.
Write briefings, reports, newsletters, and correspondence for the Provost.

Qualifications

Master of Arts or Master of Science, and 7 to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Experience managing large complex projects with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Prior experience in a leadership role in academic affairs, preferably at the graduate level.
Strong organizational skills along with experience preparing executive level communications to both internal and external audiences.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
