Internal Job Number: P08511UF Description: Disability Access Services is seeking two Interpreter 2 positions. These are part-time (0.50 FTE), 9-month, professional faculty positions. ASL/English interpreters provides communication access for a Deaf or hard of hearing (DHOH) student in the language mode used by the student: American Sign Language, oral (lip reading) modes, Contact English or Signing Exact English (SEE) and voice for the student as appropriate. The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. (RID) and the National Association of the Deaf (NAD) have established a set of ethical standards that define an interpreter's role. Interpreters hired by DAS adhere to the Code of Professional Conduct standards. Disability Access Services aspires and actively works towards equitable and accessible experiences for students with disabilities at Oregon State University. This position makes independent decisions within the constraints of University and departmental policies, the RID/NAD Code of Professional Conduct, the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act, and Oregon state statutes pertaining to disability. Decisions are reviewed by the Manager of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services and the Director of Disability Access Services, as necessary. DAS supports students with documented disabilities by providing reasonable and appropriate accommodations as required by Federal and State laws. DAS promotes the development of student self-advocacy skills while maintaining fundamental academic and technical standards. DAS supports the University's core values of Accountability, Diversity, Integrity, Respect and Social Responsibility. DAS focuses on a social justice and universal design model of inclusion when working with the university and students with disabilities. This position requires a clear and unambiguous commitment to compliance of all National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations for Division I (FBS) universities Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Typically requires CI, CT, NIC, NAD or related Interpreter Certification. 6 or more years of experience interpreting. Requirements : Bachelor's degree in relevant field to position duties, and at least five years of experience providing interpreting services OR CI, CT, NIC, NAD, or related interpreter certification and at least five years of experience providing interpreting services.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months. Type: Will be required to go anywhere on campus including Laboratories and other restricted areas. May be required to work non-standard hours that correspond to students' schedules, including evenings and weekends. While this is primarily an on-campus position, based on students' classes or participation in OSU-sponsored events, the incumbent may also be required to travel and work off-campus. Some assignments may need to be done remotely. Work schedule is dependent on dates/times of students' classes, campus events, etc., not to exceed more than 40 hours per week. Additional Salary Information: $34.71-$60.79
