The primary goal of Wharton's Undergraduate Communication Program is to prepare students for communication challenges of the workplace - emphasizing persuasive speaking and writing. The Director will report to the Sr. Director of Academic Affairs in the Wharton Undergraduate Division.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities

Serve as course lead for WH2010, a .5 credit course required by all Wharton Undergrads to graduate. WH2010 is the 2nd leg of the Wharton Undergraduate Leadership Journey. Approx.80 sections of the course are offered each year.
Manage two direct reports at the Associate Director level, who are responsible for much of the WH2010 course delivery and operations.
Plan and lead strategic initiatives in the communications program to extend business communication skills beyond WH 2010
Work with the Director, Wharton Graduate Communication Program to define requirements and allocation of effort/budget for shared technical, administrative and other support activities.
Manage a $1 million budget.

Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in communication, business administration, education, or a related field, with 7 to 10 years of experience in an academic setting, preferably within business communication or a related discipline, is required. This experience must include a proven track record of developing and managing course curricula. Focus on developing course curricula related to communication or leadership is preferred. Preference for candidates who taught and have coached others to teach at the undergraduate level.

Additional required qualifications include:

Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team, including direct reports, in a collaborative environment.
Experience in planning and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance educational programs.
Exceptional ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively, tailored to diverse audiences.
Proficient in delivering engaging presentations to various stakeholders, including students, faculty, and administration.
Ability to respond to changing educational landscapes and student needs, adjusting strategies accordingly.

Preferred qualifications include:

Experience using Canvas.
Experience managing a substantial budget is preferred.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
