Miami University’s Communications and Marketing department has been charged with building and maintaining the university’s brand on a local, regional, and national stage. This dynamic and award-winning team is comprised of over 60 marketing and communications professionals and is looking to hire a Multi-channel Content Creator/Associate Multi-channel Content Creator.
Miami University seeks a communications professional to write and edit news stories, multimedia features, social media posts, email, and web content in support of Miami University’s research, creativity, and innovation enterprise. In collaboration with the Office of Research and Innovation and faculty and staff across campus, the Multi-Channel Content Creator will develop content for and execute integrated and comprehensive communication plans as part of UCM’s storytelling team. The position will report to the Associate Director of News.
The Multi-Channel Content Creator/Associate Multi-Channel Content Creator will collaborate with appropriate staff — such as graphic designers, videographers, and photographers — to write, edit, and prepare for production a variety of university communications, including newsletters. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the difference between writing for print publications, advertising, and websites, embracing university brand standards and tone of voice.
The position of Multi-Channel Content Creator/Associate Multi-Channel Content Creator will be expected to work within our project management system in order to assist in managing project timelines and maintaining deadlines to ensure timely completion of projects. It will require giving/receiving creative and editorial feedback from/to clients and colleagues, as well as the ability to drive results while keeping projects on track. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience and understanding in these areas.
This position is approved for remote hybrid work: two days on campus, three days remote. Job Description Duties/Physical Demands: - Work closely with the Office of Research and Innovation to identify and produce stories about the research, innovation, and creative pursuits of Miami faculty, staff, and students.
- Create engaging written multi-channel content for Miami’s website, social media, and marketing that tells stories and promotes research, creativity, and innovation.
- Collaborate with project managers, other content creators, designers, photographers, web staff, and other appropriate staff to produce content in support of elevating the university’s research profile, supporting its external funding goals, and influencing and engaging both internal and external audiences.
- Launch and maintain a recurring newsletter and/or other publications that detail the research and creative pursuits of the university community.
- Contribute to the social media channels of the academic divisions and main university accounts, creating content that will engage their respective audiences.
- Write, present, and modify copy.
- Proofread other editors’ materials.
- Research content, conduct interviews, and prepare profiles.
- Assist in maintaining project deadlines and feasibility during the production of materials. Follow process and use appropriate software/tools for successfully monitoring progress of active projects, providing support as needed to ensure timely completion.
- Participate in professional development activities.
- Participate in cross-functional projects.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
