We're seeking individuals with strong technical aptitude who meet one or more of the following qualifications: - Education: An associate degree in a technical or business field (e.g., math, engineering, science, accounting, or marketing).
- Experience: At least three years as a system operator in a utility control center environment.
- Apprenticeship: Completion of a certified Electrical Apprenticeship program.
- Utility Experience: At least two years of experience working with an electric utility, with proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: - Ability to pass industry certifications, including the National Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and Wolverine's system operator test within 12 months. ($94k-$116k after certification and pass of system operator test and promoted to Transmission System Operator)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective exchanges via phone, radio, email, and documentation.
- Confident in directing field personnel during routine and high-pressure situations.
- Excellent decision-making skills under time-sensitive conditions, especially during outages.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet use.
- Solid mathematical foundation, particularly in basic algebra.
- Ability to work independently in a secure environment for extended periods, maintaining focus and attention to detail on tasks and responsibilities.
- Ability to read charts, diagrams, and data with visual accuracy, including color differentiation.
- Work involves rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.
- While rare, there may be call-ins for emergencies or to provide extra support during outage situations.
