Departmental Overview UC Berkeley in partnership with QB3 operates Bakar Labs, the flagship life science incubator on the UC Berkeley campus. Bakar Labs is a vibrant and well- equipped incubator providing lab and office space that hosts a thriving community of up to 80 startup companies developing products in therapeutics, diagnostics, research tools, agriculture and new foods. The incubator spans more than 40,000 square feet of lab and office spaces within the fully renovated Woo Hon Fai Hall. Bakar Labs also supports the growth of its community of entrepreneurs by integrating UC Berkeley capabilities, leveraging QB3 expertise, and providing beneficial connections to other life science ecosystem resources. Bakar Labs is part of the Bakar BioEnginuity Hub a campus-wide initiative whose mission is to stimulate entrepreneurship that improves human health or sustainability, enabled by innovations in engineering, physical sciences, computer science and biology. Position Summary The Lab Facility Operations Specialist role involves the management, long-range planning, organization, coordination, oversight and/or performance of multiple operational activities and services for the Bakar BioEnginuity Hub. This role supports tenants and the goals of Bakar Labs through lab space planning and upkeep, general equipment maintenance, specialized lab equipment set-up and support, tenant support and service, tracking of repair services, and inventorying and maintenance of critical supplies. Under the guidance of the Lab Operations Manager, they develop procedures, policies, and prepare tenant-facing communications. Salary & Benefits This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for UC Benefits. For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University, please visit the University of California's Compensation & Benefits website. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The budgeted annual salary that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $87,201.90 (Step 1) - $100,169.04 (Step 8). How to Apply
