Organization: Hematology/Oncology ResearchJob Summary: Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. Provides healthcare in primary and acute care, critical care and long-term health care settings. Has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. Demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Has an advanced knowledge of nursing theory and application. Has a strong foundation in evidenced based practice/education and provides an environment of safe quality care. Manages the care for patients including general oncology, stem cell transplant, benign or malignant hematology and neuro-oncology. Will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary and physician team in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. May have some responsibility for the after hours clinic and infusion coverage.Work shift: Monday-Friday, no call, no weekends Qualifications: Master's Degree Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Less than 1 year of relevant work experience Hematology/Oncology experience (preferred) Department Summary: The Division of Hematology and Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center conducts research and treats all types of adult cancers including solid tumor cancers and hematological (blood) disorders, as benign hematologic disorders such as coagulation disorders and non-cancerous blood diseases. With over 80 faculty members representing a broad range of professional expertise, our dedicated team of professionals is committed to hematologic and oncologic care through: * Research to better understand and treat cancers and benign hematologic diseases * Translating VICC laboratory research into therapies to help people with cancer * State-of-the-art patient care and personalized cancer therapy * Clinical trials, including Phase I drug development with subsequent Phase II and Phase III testing * Training future hematology and oncology doctors and researchers * Cancer chemotherapy, pharmacology, and biological therapy with an emphasis on solid tumors * Treating bleeding and coagulation disorders, anemia and other disorders of blood .
