Department Medical Lab Scientist ProgramJob Summary Under minimum supervision, the director will lead the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) and Phlebotomy education programs at Denver Health. The director will have responsibilities for daily operations of the teaching staff, teaching laboratory and didactic educational programs that prepare students for American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification (BOC) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification examination. The director will have budgetary and human resources oversight and responsibility for the program, staff and students. Essential Functions: - Plans and implements the program that complies with Federal and State laws, rules and regulations, and standards to assure continued accreditation by NAACLS. (5%)
- Assesses program goals. (5%)
- Develops curriculum with instructors, laboratory supervisory staff and Advisory Committee members. (15%)
- Designs lectures with content to meet accreditation standards and design/assign student and instructor rotational schedules. (10%)
- Assures the program, when successfully completed, qualifies graduates for national certification examinations and ensures graduates successfully pass and exceed expectations on the examination. (5%)
- Provides leadership and professionalism by modeling Denver Health Standards of Behavior and integrating the Denver Health mission into daily activities. (5%)
- Selects, processes, admits, and disciplines students according to the program?s established policies, procedures, and protocols. (10%)
- Assures curriculum is current and reflective of standards of professional practice. (5%)
- Assures program and clinical faculty are qualified, knowledgeable and appropriately trained. (5%)
- Reviews performance to ensure program instruction meets goals and requirements for continued certification. (5%)
- Assists students and faculty with instructional, educational, and technical problems by continuing to constructively supervise and critique the instructional input of others. (10%)
- Promotes professional development and continuing education of faculty by planning and implementing relevant programs. (10%)
- Maintains program records to include inquiry, admissions, acceptance, progress documents, and transcripts for all students according to federal rules, regulations, and guidelines and in compliance with accreditation requirements. (10%)
Education: Work Experience: - Three years of experience in medical laboratory science education Required
- Has knowledge of educational methods, administration, and current NAACLS accreditation and BOC certification requirements and processes Required
Licenses: - MLSASCP-Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP - American Society for Clinical Pathology Required

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to teach clinical Laboratory courses, conducting and managing learning experiences, evaluating student achievement, providing input into curriculum development, policy and procedure formulation, and evaluation of program effectiveness.
- Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current accreditation and certification procedures.
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide practice and instruction in age appropriate care to all patients served.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, required.
- Familiarity with EPIC, Canvas (LMS), and My Clinical Exchange, preferred.
