The University of Michigan's Center for Global Health Equity was launched by a catalytic gift from Dr. Tachi and Leslie Yamada, and was generously matched by the University. The Center brings together faculty and students from across the U-M community, leveraging expertise from multiple disciplines in pursuit of novel solutions to global health challenges that can positively impact individuals in low-resource settings. The Center is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Project Intermediate Manager who will manage the Center's initiatives around our existing collaborations in Ghana; design and implement recruitment and outreach activities, and educational and professional development programs for Center faculty and staff members; and partner with other Center staff leading our internal grants processes. In addition, the Project Manager will assist faculty leaders in advancing specialized challenge groups and communities of practice in existing areas of interest as well as newly identified areas to advance interdisciplinary engagement. Working under the direction of the Center's Managing Director, this individual will support and lead efforts to design, develop and evaluate initiatives that are conceptualized through collaborative efforts of U-M faculty, international partners, and external stakeholders. Strong emphasis will be placed on developing tactics to measure and report on the impact these initiatives make on the lives of the most vulnerable people worldwide. The Project Intermediate Manager will enable multiple projects from original concept through completion simultaneously through the following: - Overseeing implementation of projects in Ghana
- Provide supervision of on-the-ground activities; ensure adherence to protocols, monitor and address timeline issues.
- Interface with U-M and global partners to ensure smooth implementation and identify when changes need to be made.
- Conduct project meetings, track and analyze project progress; report on progress to Center leadership.
- Provide tactical administrative and project support to faculty leaders.
- Prepare progress reports for partners and funders as needed.
- Support dialogue and education between NGOs, academia, and government offices to ensure effective and efficient policy engagement.
- Managing projects and programs implemented by faculty-led communities of practice
- Cultivate interdisciplinary collaborations, both within and outside of the University, to help advance and enhance the work in the faculty-led communities of practice.
- Cultivate cross-campus relationships and serve as a primary point of contact for faculty members leading existing projects or seeking to launch educational and training initiatives.

- Center Membership
- Develop and implement outreach strategies for membership recruitment, including U-M faculty, U-M scholars and trainees, global collaborators, and professional staff.
- Conduct comprehensive benchmarking of membership and benefit programs for global health across the U-M and selected peer institutions.
- Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of the Center?s membership database and collection of online member profiles. Coordinate annual timeline and process for membership review and renewal.
- Collaborate with Center staff on efforts to optimize member engagement, which could include new member orientations, networking events, seminar series, member recognition opportunities, tactics to promote member accomplishments, and other efforts that engender a sense of connection for the member to the Center.
- In partnership with Center staff, develop and deliver membership reports, highlighting member activities, demographics, and overall engagement with the Center.
Additional Responsibilities - Develop and oversee project budgets.
- Assist with internal grants as needed, including review of grant proposals and reports to leadership.
- If/as needed, willingness to engage in a flexible work schedule to attend early morning meetings and/or late meetings and events.

- Ability to analyze, compare and evaluate various courses of action and make independent decisions on matters of significance, free from immediate direction, within the scope of job responsibilities; ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.

- Previous experience working on the implementation of health interventions in Low or Middle Income Countries (LMICs).
- Deep knowledge and personal experience residing in a LMIC.
- Previous experience developing and maintaining institutional and/or community partnerships in Africa.
This position is eligible for flexible (i.e., hybrid) work arrangements. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change based on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment. In addition to the regular in office workdays/hours, there will be additional times, some early morning and/or evening hours that require working on-site for events.
