General Description | The Assistant Dean, Liberal Studies provides support and assistance to the Dean to ensure academic quality and to further Divisional curricular and programmatic goals and initiatives, serving faculty and students to ensure success and significant learning outcomes. The Assistant Dean assists in the planning and management of the Division to ensure its effective and efficient operation and works with Department Heads on curricular, assessment, administrative and student related initiatives. The Assistant Dean serves as a liaison to a variety of College divisions and offices including but not limited to: ITS, Strategic Communications, Academic and Student Success, Student Development, Educational Support Services, and College Scheduler. The Assistant Dean provides oversight and supervision to direct reports.

Specific Responsibilities | - Assist in the development and implementation of new initiatives to further mission and goals of the Division to ensure success and significant learning outcomes.
- Support the Dean with advancing DEI initiatives, as assigned
- Work with the department heads within the Liberal Studies division to support the process of assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level.
- Monitor release and extended time proposals and reports for curriculum development work.
- Assist with data collection and preparation of annual and statistical reports for the Division.
- Provide direction and guidance to direct reports.
- Oversee the College catalog revision/update process for the Division.
- Work with College Master Scheduler to ensure up to date and accurate catalog listings.
- Serve as liaison with ITS regarding Banner and system related issues.
- Oversee advisory committee and maintain records.
- Manage speaker agreements and other contracts for the Division.
- Collaborate with other Departments in the development and maintenance of articulation agreements with four-year institutions; work with department heads and faculty to assess status of current agreements and to explore potential new agreements.
- Serve as the Divisional representative for the Transfer Team.
- Coordinate ads and Divisional material for publication in internal and external sources in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communications.
- Lead division-wide committees and represent the Division on college-wide committees, as directed.
- Coordinate and monitor Chapter 335 compliance to ensure quality course documentation and evaluation.
- Oversee the annual divisional reporting process and ensure compliance with all deadlines.
- Manage the Excused Withdrawal Process, which includes: evaluating the student request for validity, thoroughness and timeliness, and following up with student if additional information is needed; reviewing concerns with faculty/staff as needed and maintaining a good working relationship with the Office of Student Records and Registration staff.
- Manage Divisional student complaints.
- Assist the Dean with special projects, as assigned.
- Deliver quality customer service to both internal and external constituents in a professional, helpful, and courteous manner.
- Represent the Division on college wide committees, as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications | - Masterâ™s degree in a Liberal Arts discipline or related discipline required; any and all degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
- Three (3) years college/university level experience working with faculty in the development, design and assessment of curriculum required.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills required.
- Documented success in data-driven decision-making and problem solving required.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and collaboratively with others required; coordination or management experience preferred.
- Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, a self-starter, flexible, and organized.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, editing, verbal and other related communication skills required.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency utilizing enterprise-wide software; Banner preferred.
- MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet research skills required.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds required.
