The iSchool at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks up to 2 dynamic professionals to join our team as a Teaching Faculty I.
The positions will be responsible for teaching in and further developing the iSchool's curriculum and programming. This person(s) will teach online and in-person courses as part of the iSchool's academic programs.
We encourage candidates to apply who have a developed understanding of meeting the needs of students with a broad range of technical expertise and experience. Well qualified candidates will have a strong knowledge of information science and information infrastructures such as websites, databases and metadata and an understanding of the social impacts and social shaping of information infrastructures. Well qualified candidates will have strong knowledge in topics such as securities, data visualization, data mining and coding. Further, well qualified candidates will have a strong grasp of relevant applied skills and tools.

Proposed courses (Position # 2): L I S 201: The Information Society L I S 632: Metadata Standards and XML L I S 705: Introductory Analytics for Decision Making L I S 706: Data Mining Planning and Management L I S 707: Data Visualization and Communication for Decision Making (Additional opportunities in cybersecurity) | Responsibilities: | Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction associated with more than one lecture or laboratory course, assists with the design and execution of administrative functions associated with academic instruction and the development of pedagogy/andragogy or assessment tools and resources to support quality student learning. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record. - 5% Assists in developing techniques and/or model programs for carrying out instructional goals in disciplinary area and may help identify ways in which new techniques could be of assistance
- 5% Assesses learner performance and prepares reports recommending instructional improvements
- 5% Develops teaching techniques that enhance course effectiveness in alignment with desired outcomes and established strategy
- 70% Provides classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including grading
- 5% Assists in defining the objectives of the program and plays a major role in carrying out program duties
- 10% Support department initiatives in curriculum and program development and implementation

Preferred PhD | Qualifications: | Required: - Demonstrated success teaching at the postsecondary level both online and in person.
