Summary: The Biomedical Sciences Department at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Physiology to begin Fall 2025. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in Physiology or a closely related field. A successful applicant will be expected to: teach human physiology courses and associated labs (intermediate nutrition classes, if able); develop an active research program at GVSU which engages undergraduate and graduate students; and be an active, contributing member of the broader community (inside and outside the institution). We encourage candidates whose research and teaching interests have the potential to engage the West Michigan community to apply. We are especially interested in candidates from under-represented groups and individuals who have experience working with diverse student and community populations.
Responsibilities: Tenure-line faculty in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are typically hired on nine-month contracts, with a nine contact hour teaching load per semester (usually 3 classes). They are also expected to engage in scholarly/creative activity, service, and a significant focus, which is equivalent to three contact hours of additional responsibilities in teaching, scholarly/creative activity, and/or service depending on the successful candidate's interests and the department’s needs.
