Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Purpose and Objectives: The Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the development of the financial strategy, metrics, financial analytics, development, implementation, and monitoring of the accounting and control systems. Directly assists the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors on the strategic and tactical matters relating to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and debt financing. Responsibilities include tracking cash flow and financial planning as well as analyzing the company's financial strengths and weaknesses and proposing corrective actions. In addition to overseeing the team tasked with developing budgets, monitoring transactions, and preparing financial reports, the CFO role at United Power also oversees the Asset Management, Procurement, Warehouse, Fleet and Metering/ Special Equipment departments. Essential Job Functions:
Supervision Received and Exercised: Directs and controls the activities of more than one functional area, division, product group or service area through executive leaders who have overall operational responsibility for their assigned departments and functions. Reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer. Problem Solving: Consistently works with abstract ideas or situations across functional areas of the business. Through assessment of intangible variables, identifies and evaluates core issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas. Requires in-depth knowledge of the function, business strategies, and the company's goals as well as external factors affecting governance of company activities. Ability to discern facts, weigh outcomes, and make a final recommendation or decision. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and authorizes implementation. Discretion/Latitude: This position has the discretion to manage their own tasks and has significant discretion and authority to make decisions on behalf of and that can effect the entire organization. Impact: Erroneous decisions may impact the company's viability. Liaison: Occasionally interacts with auditors, vendors, contractors, and consultants for invoicing/payment questions or provide guidance in the selection process. Occasionally interacts with government officials when asked to attend events. Often interacts with other employees for oversight and guidance. Collaborates with the Executive team.

Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, at least ten (10) years' work experience in accounting and finance is required, and five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience, managing multiple teams. A sound understanding of electric utility accounting, finance, business processes, and internal controls is essential. CPA and master’s degree preferred but not required. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Management, leadership, and diplomatic skills are necessary to provide leadership and support to the Cooperative’s staff. Required skills include financial analysis and reporting, utility and management accounting, and proficiency in written and oral communications. Must have an unwavering demand for accuracy within a deadline-driven environment. Individual and professional integrity is essential, as a broad spectrum of confidential information is available, and errors related to or concerning disclosure of the related information could be adverse and detrimental to the Cooperative. Essential Physical & Mental Requirements: Sedentary work: Exerting up to ten pounds (10 lbs.) of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discrimination in sound. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. Requires a valid drivers license and the ability to drive a vehicle between office locations and offsite meetings. Working Conditions: The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work). Typical Hiring Range: $270,000 - $314,000 annually, with a grade maximum of 358,000 annually NOTE: This position description is not intended to be all-inclusive; an employee will also perform other job responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor or management. Additional Salary Information: 270,000 - $314,000 annually, with a grade maximum of 358,000 annually
